Appalachian Beardtongue (Penstemon laevigatus)

Appalachian Beardtongue is a 2' to 3' tall native perennial flowering in late spring and early summer. This plant features opposite leaves and panicles of white to soft lavender tubular flowers with 5 spreading lobes. Appalachian Beardtongue grows best in dry to medium moisture soils in full sun sites. It has a native distribution over most of the eastern US and is usually found on roadsides, grasslands, and open woodlands. It is easily established from seed and is a garden and landscaping favorite. Due to its striking appearance and long flowering period.
